The History of Halloween
You might describe Halloween the lone date in the year when we halt briefly to mull over the odds of the supernatural.
October 31 is Halloween (also known as Hallowe’en or Holloween). It’s the night that people young in addition to old dress up in costumes and go to Halloween parties. Tiny young people set off “trick or treating.” They dress up in costumes and roam from entry to entry (hopefully under the supervision of a dependable adult) demanding candy or other goodies. They pound on doors and bellow, “Trick or treat!” The owners of the residences unbolt the door, admire the costumes, and distribute the treat to keep from being tricked.
