So you’ve decided to get a snake as pet and now you’re wondering what kind of snake to get. There are many species of snakes that make good pets for those new to reptiles. For beginners, starter species are recommended as these snakes are generally quite easy to care for and feed and they are also fairly easy to tame.

These snakes are also do not need to eat often, although you must be prepared to feed other animals to your snake, and most of them need whole prey such as mice and rats.

There are four important criteria to consider when choosing a snake as pet:
1. Average adult size
2. Temperament or behavior
3. Feeding habits
4. Health in captivity

Of course, there are dangerous species of snakes including venomous snakes and large constrictors that are definitely not suitable for beginners.

Here are some of the snakes species that suitable for beginners:

Corn Snake
The species name of corn snake is Elaphe guttata. Sometimes are also called as Red Rat Snake. The called corn snake, because they have a maize-like pattern on their bellies that resembles corn.

Corn snakes make an excellent and popular pet snakes especially for beginner, since they are relatively docile, reluctance to bit, moderate size (they rarely grow to over six feet long, averaging just over five feet) and easy to handle and care for. Corn snakes come in a wide variety of color and patterns with names such as snow, pewter, blood red, candy cane, creamsicle etc.

Kingsnake
There are a wide variety of kingsnake species and subspecies, and many of them make good pets. The California kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula californiae) is one of the most common types of pet snakes in general, and one of the most popular kingsnakes among keepers. Other kingsnakes commonly kept as pets include the grey-banded kingsnake, the Florida kingsnake, and the mountain kingsnake varieties.

Depending on the species, adult kingsnakes will average between four and six feet in length. They can be tamed easily, they eat well and they do well in captivity. And because of the wide variety of species and subspecies of kingsnakes, you can get a pet kingsnake with many different colors.

Ball Python
The species name of Ball python is Python regius. The “Ball” name derives from their habit of curling themselves up into a tight ball when they are nervous or stressed; they hide their head inside, pulled firmly into the center, and not move for long periods of time. Ball pythons are curious and gentle snakes.

Ball Pythons make excellent pet. Their inexpensive price, good temperament and long life spans make them one of the top-selling snakes. If you choose ball python as your pet, buy a captive-born one to ensure you will get a healthy, established eater and a snake already used to contact with humans.

Recent years, captive breeding projects have developed several interesting color varieties which all share the same guidelines. Buying ball python from a reputable breeder will also ensure that you will get the help and advice you need to make your ball python feels comfortable and secure enough to eat after you bring it a t home.

Avicenna has written various articles about exotic pets related topics, including pet snake, pet turtles and more

Perforated metal is a product of numerous processes. Its production is simple, yet complex and its uses are limitless. Metal was first perforated or punched back in the 1870′s by the Hendrick Manufacturing Company of Carbondale, PA. The idea to punch multiple holes simultaneously was conceived to refine the process of drilling the metal which was both time consuming and costly.

The raw materials used in the production of perforated metal products are widely varied in width, gauge (thickness), and composition. Some examples of raw materials regularly perforated are mild carbon steel, aluminum, galvanized, copper, stainless steel in various grades, as well as numerous alloys. The perforating process actually varies with respect to the raw material being processed in multiple ways including the lubricating oil used for cooling the perforating punches and the speed at which the holes can be punched.

The raw material is fed mechanically or using electric servo motor controls through the mouth of the perforating press as the head of the press repeatedly oscillates up and down. The punches strike the material causing it to break through the metal at the point of impact in the desired size and shape. The specific shape and size of the holes are determined by the perforating tool. One strike of the punches produces holes across the material perpendicular to its movement through the press. One revolution of the perforating press can produce single or multiple rows of holes depending on many variables including the perforating tool and the customer specs. The size, shape, and the pattern of holes is specific to each individual application. The feeding of the raw material is sychronized with the up and down motion of the perforating ram within the press to produce repetitive patterns.

The resulting perforated material can then be subjected to additional processes depending on its intended use. The metal can be sheared to length or it can be wrapped into a coil. It can be cleaned and washed, deburred, painted, and formed or bent into various shapes. As a result of numerous fabrication techniques including (but not limited to) welding, the perforated metal can become many different stand-alone products or parts of end-user products.<br>

Perforated metals are found virtually everywhere from automobile parts to small appliances and from rock quarries to computers. Many design factors contribute to the specific application. A wide range of hole sizes and shapes of course are available. The holes can be arranged into staggered or straight line patterns. The type and thickness of the metallic raw materials are also critical to the intended use. Small holes for instance are ideal for filters and filtration of fine particles in both air and liquid. A complete product line can be based on filtration itself. Moderate sized holes have found a place in decorative or architectural products including building facades and lighting diffusers. Larger diameter holes are used on mining and aggregate application usually punched in a heavy gauge material.

It seems once you’ve taken an interest in perforated metal products you can find them almost everywhere in one form or another. Perforation is visible in industrial facilities, the exterior design of buildings, decorative lighting over our heads, and in everyday appliances we use at home.

Chet is employed by Hendrick Manufacturing Company, a pioneer in the perforated metal industry. Hendrick Mfg. has operated conitnuously in Carbondale, Pennsylvania since 1876.
